Why The Name Wild Roots?

Wild Roots Pet Sitting comes from the thought of animals being wild and free, regardless of domestication. They have an all encompassing love for those they live with and when you see them run and play – it just becomes a wild joy! The idea that our domesticated animals have ancestors that were once wild really intrigues me. Especially in regards to cats & dogs and how they have been loyal companions for over 10,000 years. They all have wild roots for us to trace back to. Cats are unique in the sense that they have domesticated themselves – their ancestry can be traced back to five females of the Felis silvestris lybica species. Dogs were domesticated due to their love of food. They were once wild but were lured out of the wilderness with the idea of a delicious dinner. Once humans recognized dogs as a fierce protector, they began to feed them willingly. Their loyalty never wavered. I like to look at the name of Wild Roots as honoring that history and also providing the idea that I will be spending plenty of time with our furry companions out in the wild (if they so desire).
